At 10:00 am, participants come together, pitch ideas, form teams, and break out into a frenzy of media creation! Lunch is served, then projects are wrapped up by 4:30p for the judging panel. Prizes are awarded – including a People’s Choice – and then we have a panel discussion and Q&A about the topic, over more snacks of course!
The most unique part of the MediaThon is its participants – writers and filmmakers, entrepreneurs and designers, technologists and inspired idea folks – working together to tell stories that delight, inspire and inform.
Dorian Benkoil is an accomplished media and technology executive, lecturer and columnist, and co-founder of Teeming Media, a Digital Media Management consultancy. An award-winning journalist, Dorian frequently writes, teaches and speaks publicly on cutting edge media and technology issues. Dorian was a foreign correspondent and reporter at Newsweek, The Associated Press, ABC News and ABCNews.com.
Yvahn Martin is a digital marketer and e-commerce intrapraneur with more than nine years of experience managing market strategy, sales analysis, email, search, affiliates and social media in both the B2B software and e-commerce realms. An MBA, former dancer and choreographer, Yvahn can also be found building WordPress websites, throwing fundraisers for Urban Bush Women dance company and recommending local hangouts for Localeur, when she’s not cooking delicacies from her native New Orleans, riding her folding bike, or throwing MediaThons.
